Hípica do Convento de São Domingos
The Convent of São Domingos was built in 1435. At the start of its existence, the Convent of São Domingos had stables and equipment for hitching and dressage horses, which developed significantly in this area in the centuries that followed, hosting traditional equestrian competitions in a wide variety of international disciplines and representing a point of reference for riders and breeders, so that it became part of the history of the horse in Europe and the world, in partnership with human beings.
The Hípica do Convento de São Domingos is the result of this evolution of equestrian activities that were sown in past eras, bringing these activities up to date with the life of modern man, namely sportsmen and fans of this sector, as well as arousing the cultural interest of scholars in art and architecture, and also representing an important tourist monument.
